Victorian gymnasts ready to go for Gold at the Australian Gymnastics Championships Victoria’s best gymnasts are ready to take to the competition floor at the 2019 Australian Gymnastics Championships at Melbourne Arena. The two-week competition is the biggest event on the Australian Gymnastics calendar and is a step towards the Tokyo 2020 Olympics for many Senior gymnasts. Top gymnasts from every state and territory will come together in Melbourne to compete to be the Australian Champion in six different Gymsports. Athletes will compete in Women’s Artistic, Men’s Artistic, Rhythmic, Trampoline and Acrobatic Gymnastics and for the first time Aerobic Gymnastics will be joining the multi-sport competition. The first week of competition features the Men’s Artistic and Women’s Artistic Gymnastics, with the Senior International team finals taking place on Friday 24 May and Senior International individual finals happening on Sunday 26 May. Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist on Floor Alex Eade will be competing in the Senior International Women’s Artistic Gymnastics competition on Friday 24 May, as will Commonwealth Games Bronze Medallist on Vault Emily Whitehead. They will go up against the likes of other Medal winning Senior International gymnasts Georgia Godwin (QLD), Georgia-Rose Brown (QLD) and Emma Nedov (NSW). Another Victorian to watch is Men’s Artistic Gymnast Tyson Bull who has recently competed at the Melbourne World Cup, Doha World Cup and Baku World Cup and achieved some fantastic results.
