Gymnastics Victoria Family Ball & Awards Night

Gymnastics Victoria celebrate achievements of 2018 at Family Ball & Awards Night

The Gymnastics Victoria Family Ball & Awards Night was held at Peninsula Docklands on Saturday 9 February 2019, where over 630 people from the Gymnastics community were in attendance to celebrate the achievements of 2018.

ABC News Breakfast Presenter Georgie Tunny was the MC for the evening, setting a professional yet light-hearted tone for the evening.

Awards were presented to athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers and clubs who made outstanding contributions to the sport of Gymnastics in Victoria throughout 2018.

In his opening address, Chair of the Gymnastics Victoria Board Michael O’Neill reflected on the growth of Gymnastics over the past few years.

“Who would have thought 6 years ago with only 200 people at a little venue in Albert Park, that we’d have over 600 people here tonight in one of Melbourne’s most fantastic venues,” Michael said.

International Recognition Awards were presented to athletes, coaches and officials who represented the sport at the highest level throughout the year. Shadow Minister for Sport David Hodgett MP presented the awards to Commonwealth Games athletes Alex Eade, Emily Whitehead, Luke Wadsworth and Alexandra Kiroi-Bogatyreva as well as Aerobics athletes Olivia Feaver and Annabel Muttdon who competed at the Aerobics World Championships.

The Paul Horvath SportsLawyer Club of the Year was chosen from the recipients of the Club of the Year awards, with Twisters Gymnastics winning the coveted title.

The final awards of the evening were the Club Awards that recognise the achievements of Victorian Gymnastics Clubs. The HR Plus Small Club of the Year was Swan Hill Gymnastics Club; True Blue Migration Medium Club of the Year was Fisherman’s Bend Gymnastics Club; OZ Trampolines Large Club of the Year was Peninsula Gymnastics and the Rae-Line Mega Club of the Year was Twisters Gymnastics.

Gymnastics Coaches were recognised at the Recreational, Competitive and the High Performance Level. Georgia Bonora and John Hart from Waverley Gymnastics Centre were named the High Performance Coaching Team of the Year. The recreational award for the Gymstar Coaching Team Award was presented to the coaching team from Reach Gymnastics.

The VicHealth Inclusive Initiative of the Year was presented to Leongatha Gymnastics Club and their Disability Programs. The Newest Inclusive Leader was awarded to Knox Gymnastics Club, while the Inclusive Leader of the Year was presented to Taylah Palmer from Casey Gymnastics.

Gymnastics Victoria CEO Jamie Parsons commented on the growth of the event, and how much it means to celebrate outstanding members of the community.

“This is the biggest celebration of Gymnastics in Victoria to date, with over 600 people in the room. It is a fantastic opportunity for the Gymnastics community to come together to celebrate the achievements of the previous year,” Jamie said.

Bouldering Solutions

The world of bouldering has evolved over recent years in many ways. One of those is the types and styles of padding solutions being used under the climbing walls. Where once foam pits or large crash mats were installed with very low-density foams, we are now seeing a move to combination solutions with many grades of foam layered to meet specific needs and both vinyls and carpet topping systems. Our team has been in Europe visiting many bouldering sites and trade show and have poured the knowledge gathered into our ‘Bouldering Sports Padding Solutions’. If you are in the bouldering business or a gymnastics venue or activity centre that is considering adding bouldering to your facility make sure that you give our team of designers a call for the latest info and a quote.

Dividing Walls – safety and space utilisation

Rae-Line’s play and training space ‘Diving Walls’ unlock two great advantages. Safety and Space utilisation.

Safety – Controlling where your students and customers can and can’t move can reduce the chance of collision greatly. The mixture of very focused training (e.g. volt runs) and young children not watching where they are going increases the chances of a collision significantly. The use of these light and sturdy dividing walls ensures that everyone is safe in their own space and can focus fully on their activities.

Space utilisation – The ability to have different activities close together, yet physically separated allows multiple activities to be in closer proximity. For some venues this is sure to unlock useful space and even allow for extra classes to be run!

“Great location for club branding, they really make the venue look great” – add your logo to some of the wall panels.

“These dividing walls and doors are the perfect tool for dividing the gymnastics floor into sections. Velcro flaps on the bottom enables the walls to be removable and easily assembled”.

PRODUCT VIDEO 04 – SPORTING CLUBS & FACILITIES

Sporting clubs and facilities demand a lot from their padding. Above all else, they need it to be able to go the distance. Our business development manager Chris will explain how our products are the best range on offer.

Padding for sports facilities is something that most sports administrators don’t want to invest a lot of time researching. Our range of products comes in various colours designed to match your club’s brand.

Everything is manufactured locally in Australia, using scientifically-backed high quality materials that stand up to whatever you throw at them. The correct material selection can help extend their useful life beyond what you’ve come to expect.

It can be very hard to determine if padding is doing its intended job at times. Our scientifically-backed testing process gives our customers a physical map of their facility and its padding performance. From this, we can determine things like high use areas, and ensure proactive maintenance is carried out.

By offering a full selection of foam types and sizes, we can produce a padding solution for your sporting facility in a time-efficient manner, allowing you to get on with your core operations with peace of mind about your participant’s safety.

PRODUCT VIDEO 03 – PLAYGROUNDS

Providing safe play environments for facilities like schools, childcare centres and local parks is something that requires close attention to detail. Our business development manager Chris will take you through why our process can bring peace of mind.

When designing play areas, it’s important to understand the needs and requirements for each individual project. In our initial design and scoping phase we look for feedback to help determine the intended user of the product, to ensure that we’re choosing safe and reliable materials that are backed by scientific testing.

Our range of playground products comes in a lot of different shapes and sizes, and the breadth of the range allows you to choose colours that align to your brand. We also understand that a lot of projects can be time sensitive, and need to be installed during specific maintenance periods.

Assembling the product correctly is about ensuring the quality, and maintaining efficiency with time. Avoiding installation delays are key to delivering a good product. We aim to ensure that everything that leaves the factory as is specified in the design.

Our range of materials and foams gives you greater choice when choosing your playground products. Using quality materials ensures safety for children and consistent performance over the product’s lifetime.

PRODUCT VIDEO 02 – ACTIVITY CENTRES/PARKOUR/TRAMPOLINE

Consumer-driven facilities like trampoline, climbing, parkour are an ever growing industry. Our business development manager Chris is going to explain how owners can get their best return on investment.

Activity centres demand a product solution that is custom to the specific facility. We often see ill-specified and ill-installed materials that lead to an excess wear and a reduced product life. We use an automated design and cutting process to ensure that our products are assembled and installed correctly the first time. This improves the longevity of the product, and reduces downtime in your centre.

A key thing we’re looking to avoid is loose or misshapen covers that lead to excess wear. The automated machines ensure a millimetre perfect result, that also allows us to reproduce a component in the future that will be the exact specifications of the original piece. Using high quality stitches in the process is a key to avoiding breakages and ensuring a longer product life.

Being a local Australian manufacturer with a large output capacity, we’re able to take your project from design – including digital 3D modelling – all the way through to the installation and development of maintenance plans to ensure the product stays safe and lasts its intended life.

PRODUCT VIDEO 01 – GYMNASTICS

PRODUCT VIDEO 01 – GYMNASTICS

Gymnastics facilities are one of the highest users of premium padding products. Our business development manager Chris will now explain how we produce high performance results for these facilities.

We produce high quality and safe training environments for gymnastics facilities across the world. Our padding is designed and manufactured right here in Australia, and we’ve taken a science-driven approach to ensure that all the materials stand up to the rigours required for athletes in training.

We work with our clients to gather design input about materials and sporting specification requirements to ensure the product will be fit for purpose. We then feed that information to our local design team that ensures an efficient way forward into production and assembly.

The real value in the scoping and design process comes through reducing production and installation errors, superior installations that assemble and align correctly, and cost savings by prescribing the correct materials for the project.

This is particularly important for high performance sporting applications, and being a local designer and manufacturer ensures the quality of our products are always consistent. It also creates lead-times that are efficient and quality control processes that you can rely on.
